About Us
In 1927, a group of visionary summer residents came together to acquire property at the head of Grenadier Island, aiming to build a golf course. By late 1928, play commenced on a course designed by the renowned Arthur Tillinghast. Over the years, we expanded our facilities to include docks, clubhouses, Har-Tru tennis courts added in 1975, a challenging croquet pitch in 1986, and additional tee boxes in the late 80s to enhance our 9-hole course.
Our club has always been a hub for vibrant social life and competitive spirit. We host championships in golf, tennis, and croquet, alongside casual tournaments and social gatherings. From themed weekly dinners to masques, plays, dances, and casino nights, our events are a testament to the lively community spirit that defines GICC.
The Grenadier Island Country Club is a place where tradition blends seamlessly with new ideas. Many of our current members can trace their involvement back five generations, while others are new to the region, creating a diverse and dynamic community.
In 2002, we celebrated our 75th anniversary with a grand gala attended by over 500 people, and in 2007, we marked our 80th anniversary with a special toast at our Turkey Dinner.
Our club thrives thanks to the dedication of both current and past members, who have collectively made GICC a gathering place for friends with common interests and goals. We invite you to join us in celebrating our storied past and contributing to our vibrant future.
